71 cm chopperlump barrels, concave matted rib, auxilliary bead, ejectors, hidden third grip, choked 1/2 & 1/2, bright action with sideclips, deep relief chiselled foliate scroll in renaissance style, dark stippled background, on the lockplates cherubs with chimera, grotesque masks on the fences, a cherub on the action bottom and a female statue on the trigger guard, self-opening bar-action sidelocks, cocking indicators, intercepting sears, disc-set strikers, gas vents, automatic sliding tang safety with gold inlaid “Safe”, mechanical single trigger type Boss, restocked with wonderfully grained Turkish walnut, drop-points, semi-pistol grip, chequered butt-end, 36,5 cm, fore-end with Anson push-rod, gold stock oval engraved with initials “BN”, 3,3 kg, year of manufacture 1926, in its maker’s oak and leather case with accessories, one spare striker, brass plaques on the lid engraved with initials and name of the former owners, condition 2. According to the maker’s records this gun has been engraved by master engraver Henry “Harry” Kell, (1880 – 1958), the doyen of early 20th century engraving artists and fore-runner of the modern engravings. This special style was inspired by the Purdey gun No. 14469, delivered in 1892 to the Shah of Persia.
