About the CIC
The International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC) is a politically independent advisory body which aims to conserve nature through the application of the principles of sustainable use. Ultimately, the vision of the CIC is for a world where wildlife is valued and conserved as part of nature for the benefit of humanity. To do this, the CIC is looking to unite and streamline forces to better inform the public and communicate the positive contributions of hunting to wildlife conservation. Born from a Central European idea around 1900, the CIC was created in 1928 in Palárikovo (present day Slovakia), following an initiative of the Hungarian Count Louis Károlyi and Maxime Ducrocq, President of the French St. Hubert Club and their friends. As an international organization from the start, the CIC was registered in Paris in 1930. Since 1999, the CIC Headquarters have been located in Budakeszi, Hungary.

The CIC’s strengths lie in its diverse, yet united membership. The CIC believes that landmark progress in conservation can be achieved only through the cooperation of a wide range of institutions and individuals. The CIC is proud to have over 1,700 members in more than 80 countries on all 5 continents. Its’ membership consists of states, national and international associations and organizations, individual members, as well as sponsors, all advocates of the CIC and sustainable wildlife management around the world.

Where will the money raised from the auction go?
All of the money from this auctioned lot will go towards the CIC’s efforts in promoting the role of sustainable use of wildlife in the conservation of nature. This includes advocacy work at local and national government levels through national CIC delegations, and at regional and international level through the CIC’s presence in international environmental conventions, agreements, institutions and organisations such as the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Convention on Trade in Endangered Species of Fauna and Flora (CITES), Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), Convention on Migratory Species (CMS), and United Nations organisations. The funds from the auction will go towards ensuring that positive conservation impacts are put first, ahead of any interests, emotions and ideologies that might ultimately threaten wildlife and their habitats.

By supporting the efforts of the CIC, you will be promoting and supporting not only the conservation of wildlife and related landscapes, but also local communities and traditions which depend on sustainable use as part of their existence.
