78 cm barrels of formerly browned twist Damascus, Belgian pre-proof, flat rib with gold inlaid inscription "H. Barella Königl: Preussischer & Kaiserl: Russischer Hofbüchsenm: Berlin", inlaid with gold cords at the muzzle and breech, bright rounded action, full-coverage chiselled with scenes of a gundog with a bird on the left a roe deer on the right, rocaille on action bottom, a fox's head on tang, break action, locked by longitudinal movable bolt controlled by the underlever, firing pins to be cocked manually and individually, in-line arrangement with coil springs, short cocking travel, cocking indicator, double trigger with set trigger in front blade (formerly exchangeable rifle barrels? ), walnut stock, richly carved, in the forearm a coat of arms with crest and helmet, embedded in it a silver medallion with initials under a baron's crown, at the back of the stock leaf arabesques and blossoms, on the right side a rocaille, on the left side behind the sloping smooth cheekpiece carved red deer, carved horn finger rest, steel butt plate 37 cm with trap for two cartridges engraved with red deer, fore-end with lever fastener, sling swivels, exceptional richly decorated weapon in technically interesting design, year of manufacture before 1871, the appointment of Barella as purveyor to the German Imperial Court, in good condition for the age, condition II-III.
