Mauser C96 six-loader, "Cone Hammer", 7,63 mm Mauser, #14273, with matching numbered shoulder stock, § B made before 1900

Starting price 10.000 EUR
Result:
10.000 EUR

Extremely rare and early Mauser C96, "Cone-Hammer" version as "six-loader", i.e. with magazine for only 6 instead of - as usual for this weapon - 10 cartridges. Six-shot variants of early self-loading pistols, as opposed to the men's rank version with 10 rounds, were intended for officers who had to obtain their handgun privately. It was apparently thought that an officer would not need to fire so often in combat.... These weapons were not introduced in any armed forces and private-civilian sales were also very limited. That is the reason why these weapons are so rare. Our example impresses with its excellent condition and the matching numbered shoulder stock, a combination in which this extremely rare weapon has hardly ever been offered. Year of manufacture according to serial number 1898, barrel length 140 mm, bore condition good, matching numbered, company name "Waffenfabrik Mauser" on top of breech, proof mark double crown/"U". Sliding rear sight scaled 50 - 1000, beautiful original finish with only very light wear, especially on trigger and hammer (patination by hand perspiration). No valid proof, collector's gun. The matching numbered walnut shoulder stock in good condition without crack. Condition overall I-II.
