23 cm octagonal rifled barrel of browned rose Damascus, blued steel breech end, blued dovetailed bead, bright engraved tailend with integral rear sight, flat lockplate, sparsely engraved, signed with maker’s name “Peyret à Lyon”, single set trigger with adjustment pin, shaped engraved sideplate, carved scallop tipped walnut half stock, chequered grip, no ramrod, hinged pistol grip cap in shape of a scallop with a trap for caps, steel trigger guard with added finger rest, pineapple ferule, barrel held in place by steel bound wedge, blank silver oval for initials on tang, made about 1850, hammer with old repair and spur beginning to break off, drying cracks behind lockplate and counterplate, condition III-IV.
