61 cm octagonal barrel above a tubular magazine, inscribed "HENRY'S PATENT. OCT 16. 1860 MANUFACT'D BY THE NEWHAVEN ARMS.CO. NEWHAVEN.CT", adjustable sights, receiver of gunmetal (brass), underlever secured with screw, walnut buttstock, straight hand, brass buttplate with a trap holding the original hickory wood four part cleaning rod, without fore-end, sling swivels on the left, inspection mark "C.G.C." and "H" on the right of barrel for the US martial inspector Charles G. Chapman and "Henry", together with another 800 units issued to the 1st US Cavalry division of the District of Columbia during the Civil War in 1864 and later passed on to the US Elite volunteer regiments until the end of the war in 1865. In this great condition and completeness extremely rare historic original, year of manufacture 1863, condition II-III.
