76 cm barrels, concave rib inscribed "Cogswell & Harrison Ltd. 111 New Bond Street & 226 Strand London", choked cylinder & 1/8, extractor, bright rounded action, back action hammer locks, scroll engraved, lockplates inscribed "Purdey" ("James Purdey & Sons" was introduced in 1877), action bottom "Purdey's Patent" (bolted lumps), top lever "Patent" (W. Scott spindle), rebounding dolphin shaped hammers, double triggers, walnut stock, straight hand, chequered butt 35,5 cm, fore-end with wedge fastener, blank silver stock oval, year of manufacture 1872 as No. 1 of a pair, London Nitro proof on the steel barrel flats replaced by Cogswell & Harrison London at a later date, modern reworked, condition 3.
