True pair with consecutive serial numbers, 30" chopper lump barrels choked 1/8 and 3/8, concave rib, inscribed with maker's address, rib extension with third bite, bar-action sidelocks with intercepting sears, full coverage bold scroll engraving on bright actions, ejectors, double triggers, automatic sliding tang safety, 38 cm lop burr walnut stocks with drop points and straight hands, ( most probably recently restocked ), fore-end with Anson push-rods, made in 1903, German proof of 2005 for the 12 2 3/4" case, professionally restored to condition 2, in the original oak-and-leather case with maker's case label in lid, embossed on the lid "W. H. Rhodes-Moorhouse". From the property of William Henry Rhodes-Moorhouse, like his father William Barnard Rhodes-Moorhouse, from whom he had inheritated, a very prominent and highly decorated British airman. He also became designee ski-jumping champion for the Olympic games of 1936.
