6 " octagonal barrel, blue-tempered, frame, hammer and bullet seater colour hardened, smooth walnut grips, very early production, serial number of 1849, inscribed "ADDRESS COL. COLT LONDON" on top of barrel, "COLT'S PATENT" left on the frame, also on the cylinder, thus shallow engraved with scene of a stagecoach hold-up, the matching serial number appears 5 times, on barrel, cylinder, frame and twice on grip frame, most of the weapons made for the British market were delivered in oak cases holding the gun, a cleaning rod, a nipple key, a bullet mold, an English made powder flask by Dixon and a box of Eley primer caps. Our specimen just misses the primer box, the bullet mold also stamped "COLT'S PATENT", the case is lined with red velvet and the lid has a blank brass plaque for engraving, two spare nipples and some bullets, including the key. inside the lid the original loading and cleaning instructions, near complete, very well preserved set in condition II-III.
