22 cm octagonal barrel with fine shallow rifling, about 1840 adapted to caplock, signed on the lockplate and gold inlaid on top of barrel "Ullrich in Oberndorf", breech end with inlaid gold band, tang engraved "2", dovatailed front sight, rear sight adjustable by means of a key, lock in need of repair (sears not functional), borders engraved with ribbons, walnut stock finely chequered grip, small unobtrusive crack in front of the lockplate, not mfitting ramrod, partially patinated original condition, all in all condition III. FRANZ ULRICH (born 1771 in Schwyz/Switzerland, dies 1845 in Stuttgart) opened business in 1823. He was a technically adept gunmaker and became well renowned well outside the city borders, gaining various patents for technic innovations. In 1812 he became intendant of the factory in Oberndorf and purveyor to the Royal Court of Württemberg.
