71 cm chopper-lump, concave rib, ivory bead, auxilliary bead, Gold inlaid maker's address in Gothic font, ejectors, choked cylinder & 1/2, colour hardened action with fine rose-and scroll engraving, inscribed with the maker's name also in Gothic, deeply carved fences with acanthus leaf, on the action bottom gold inlaid inscribed with "Purdey's Patent", also in Gothic, self-opening bar-action sidelocks type Beesley, cocking indicators, intercepting sears, disc-set strikers, gas vents, automatic sliding tang safety with gold inlaid "Safe", double triggers, trigger guard with gold inlaid serial number, grained walnut stock, straight hand, drop points, lengthened with matching wood by 4 cm to 39 cm, chequered butt-end, fore-end with Anson push-rod, silver stock oval engraved with initials. As the makers kindly confirmed the gun has been delivered in 1905 without engraving and with a blued action, the gold inlaid maker's name and the carved fences are original, the colour hardening and the engraving have been added at a later date and not by the makers, year of manufacture 1905, London reproof 1973 for 2 3/4 inch case, original barrels reworked and reblued, sound minimum wall thickness in both barrels of about 0.55 mm, tight action with renewed colour hardening, restocked with beginning small cracks behind both lockplates, restored to serviceable condition 2-3.
