82,5 cm rifled, slightly swamped, brushed bright octagonal barrel, deep bas-relief engraved grotesque animals at the breech end, a cherub at the muzzle, all surrounded by scrollwork, dovetailed brass front sight and rear sight, flat lock-plate with external wheel, signed “GERDT HENNIGES” and dated "ANNO 1651", engraved with a unicorn and a dove with a twig, strewn with flowers and insects, dog covered by the plate engraved with grotesque head and a bird's heads, sliding pan cover with spring release, ebonised wood full-stock with intricate bone, brasswire and mother of pearl inlays, cheek-piece adorned with a scene of the original sin, Adam and Eve beneath a palm tree sporting a spaniel, patch-box sliding cover depicting a nobleman in contemporary hunting attire, on the left hand side opposite the lock a huntsman with a spaniel, all surrounded by various animals (cats, bird of prey, weasel), flowers and leafwork, iron trigger guard with finger rest, double set needle trigger, hardwood ramrod with bone tip, OAL 110 cm, year of manufacture 1651, Gerdt Henniges is recorded from 1652 to 1660 as gunmaker in the Netherlands, see Heer “Der Neue Stöckel”, condition III.
