With a long tradition, Outschar is one of the oldest companies in Ferlach. At the beginning of the twentieth century, turbulent times also affected the business of Johann Schaschl-Outschar, when he leased the business of the late Johann Ogris and also continued to operate this business until 1939. After the 2nd World War, the Joh. Outschar company was re-established and continues to exist to this day, producing a handful of new guns each year. Furthermore, Outschar is a major supplier of stock wood for well-known German, Italian and Czech (hunting) gun manufacturers.
