Barrel length 71 cm (28"), stock length 37 cm (14.5"), overall length 114 cm (44.5"), choke cylinder & 1/2 (C & M), weight 2.97 kg, year of manufacture 1906, British proof, condition 3.
Concave rib, inscribed with the manufacturer's address at the time " Boss & Co 73, St. James's Street, London", brass front sight, ejectors, forearm with Anson trigger, base with remains of color case hardening, finest English arabesque and rose bouquet engraving which continues over all other metal parts, Boss patent system with side locks by "E. Chilton", cocking indicator, sear, firing pins inserted from rear, automatic sliding tang saftey, gold inlaid "Safe", double trigger, rolled dark hardened trigger guard, rich grained walnut stock, drop, straight grip, monogram plate with "P", cut extended butt end. London proof. All gun parts and the dark hardened key numbered "1" and "2". The #1 in the forend has a slight tear at the bottom of the rear. Delivered in a leather-covered, but already heavily worn oak case (strap missing or cracked) with brass-studded corners and manufacturer's trade label, here an address from another time "41 Albemarle Street, Piccadilly", with extensive cleaning utensils, small parts, oil bottle and tee cartridges case from the range of the Italian importer/dealer "E. Casicano - Roma". The case thus after 1930. The shotguns themselves still manufactured with the address St. James Street (until 1908) and delimitable by the serial number (from 1906). Therefore, the engravings are due to John Samnar III.
