Barrel length 71 cm (28"), stock length 37,5 cm (14,75"), overall length 114 cm (45"), choke 3/4 & 3/4 (IM & IM), weight 3,3 kg, year of manufacture about 1886-1888, English proof, condition 3-4.
Damascus barrels internally scarred with the front "Paradox" barrels prominent on Holland&.Holland prominent "Paradox" barrel ends, straight engine-turned rib, long front sight, set-up sights with color-tempered rear sight blade, London proof, extractor, forearm with Anson trigger, bascule decorated up to the fences with arabesques and floral bouquets, ham-shaped lockplates, color case hardened screws, lever, trigger and trigger guard, rear removable firing pins, recoil pad with gas relief hole, sliding tang saftey, double trigger, sling swivel lugs removed, straight rich grained walnut stock with drops, fine chequering, inlaid monogram "GS" and rubber butt cap. Supplied with a copy from the maker's records, and a leather ham case. An interesting design known for Holland & Holland as a Paradox Gun. Produced on the basis of Colonel George Fosbery's invention with the idea of stabilizing shotgun barrel bullets by the additional twist. The bore here is at the level of the chokes and is shallower than usual choke bores. Since the damascus barrels are already scarred on the inside, this is primarily a collector's weapon that impresses with its appearance and reflects the technical achievement of English shotgun manufacturing in the 19th century.
