S/s shotgun J. MacNaughton - Edinburgh 28 Lever cocking cal.28/65 #1289 § C +ACC

Starting price 7.000 EUR

Barrel length 61 cm (24“), stock length 36 cm (14.25“), total length 103 cm (40.5“), choke cylinder & cylinder (C & C), weight 2.0 kg, year of manufacture unknown, English proof, Condition 3. Concave smooth rail engraved with „J. MacNaughton Edinburgh“, metal front sight, extractor, barrel ends with edge engraving, rounded receiver engraved with arabesques, additional „MacNaughton“ „Edinburgh“ on the fences, further arabesques continued on all metal parts, swivel safety on the tang, long opening lever which also cocks the locks, double trigger, tear-off forend, straight round-body buttstock with empty monogram plate and fine checkering and plastic butt plate. In a worn case with textile cover (stained) with copies of manufacturer‘s labels subsequently attached to the inside. Technically exceptional and, above all, rare shotgun. MacNaughton - later taken over by Dickson (who also took over patents and pushed them further) was known for his independently developed locking techniques and elegantly rounded systems. In particular, apart from the usual sidelocks, McNaughton is particularly synonymous with trigger plate action. Today Dickson still mentions the Edinburgh 28 in the company‘s history of development and proclaims an extraordinarily low number of only around 50 „Edingburgh 28“ shotguns ever manufactured. A rare piece for system collectors.
