Barrel length 71 cm (28“), stock length 35.5 cm (14“), total length 112 cm (44“), choke cylinder & 3/4 (C & IM), weight 2.5 kg, year of manufacture around 1887, English and German proof, restored to condition 2. Barrels with smooth concave rib, engraved with „J. Purdey & Sons, Audley House, South Audley Street, London. Made of Sir Joseph Whitworth‘s Fluid Pressed Steel“, plus marked „1“ for the possible Number 1 of a former pair, brass front sight, extractor, Purdeynose, subtle edge engraving, other metal parts and receiver and lock plates decorated with fine arabesques and floral bouquets, blued lock pins, recessed, dolphin-shaped hammers, firing pin screws, lever and trigger guard dark blued, double trigger with evasive blade, extended trigger guard with engraved serial number, well-grained stock with fine checkering, forend with Anson release, straight buttstock with teardrop, empty gold monogram plate and trimmed butt plate. Modern german proof to accommodate the common 20/70 cartridge. Extremely beautifully restored with rich bluing, fine patination and well-grained stock including precise checkering.
