Sidelock-o/u shotgun system Joseph Defourny - Belgian cal. 12/70 #9196 with interchangeable barrel #10637 12/70 § C +ACC

Starting price 3.400 EUR

Barrel length 70 cm (27.5“), stock length 37 cm (14.5“), total length 114 cm (45“), choke 1/2 & full (M & F), weight 3.4 kg, year of manufacture unknown, Belgian Proof, condition apart from defect 2. Interchangeable barrel length 70 cm (27.5“), chokes 1/4 & 1/4 (IC & IC), Belgian proof, serial number 10637, condition 2. Slightly concave engine-turned rib, metal front sight, auxiliary front sight, barrel engraved with „A.M. Mainwaring .44 Rue des Petits Champs Paris“ for the delivering dealer, ejectors, reinforced barrel flanks, JD patented locking type, system and lock plates extensively engraved with a variety of arabesques and edge decorations, mechanical single trigger, lever and trigger unit (trigger, trigger plate & trigger guard) dark blued, slide tang safety, evenly grained stock, fine, well-preserved checkering, special forend with pusher typical of the model, straight buttstock, with plastic butt plate. The additional barrel differs primarily in the chokes, has no auxiliary front sight and the lack of dealer engraving. Delivered together in a high leather ham case in which all components fit. Technically very interesting sidelock over-and-under shotgun that is based on a conversion of the technology of double-barreled shotguns. The base of the receiver is therefore reminiscent of sidelock double-barreled shotguns, which are then topped up accordingly. The locks are based on the Holland-Holland system. Shotguns of this type were manufactured by Defourny as well as other companies that awarded contracts to use this patent. In the breech there is only the patent reference and no information as to whether Defourny himself made this weapon - so a Belgian manufacturer from that time, such as Francotte, could be behind it. Defect - firing pin of the lower barrel does not come off.
