C96/16 in very good original condition with about 95% of finish, very good bore, all numbers matching. German nitro proof on lhs "double crown above U". Number of shoulder stock is matching. Without valid proof, condition II. In WWII standard broomhandles in .30 Mauser were used as auxiliary handguns by the German and Austro-Hungarian Army ("Wartime Commercial"). Caused by logistical reasons in Germany broomhandles in 9 mm Luger were introduced because the standard ordnance handgun Luger P08 was chambered for this cartridge. To distinguish the two different Mauser pistols the C96/16 was marked with a red "9" on the grip panels to prevent use of wrong ammunition.
